Answers to your most asked questions
What should I check before hiring a locksmith?
Ask who will attend, what work is proposed, and which charges may apply. Request evidence for any licensing, insurance or other credentials a business advertises, and check recent customer reviews.
For property access, be ready to show that you are authorized to enter.
Who will actually turn up at my door?
Locks R Us Locksmith is owner-run. You speak to the owner, the owner quotes the job, and the technician who arrives will identify themselves before starting any work.
We are not a national call center that passes your job to whoever is nearest and takes a cut. That difference is usually visible in both the price and the workmanship.
How long have you been working in this area?
Over eleven years across Ballwin and Greater St. Louis, covering rekeying, repairs, replacements, installations, lockouts and master key systems for homes and businesses.
Local experience matters more than it sounds. We know the hardware that turns up on doors around here and which older locks are worth repairing rather than replacing.
Will I know the price before you start?
Ask for an estimate and an explanation of service-call, labor and hardware charges before approving work. The door condition and the parts needed can affect the final cost.
Call us with your location and a description of the problem so we can discuss the job.
Do I need to be there while you work?
For a lockout, yes. We only open locks for people who can show they are entitled to access the property, so bring ID or proof of residence.
For scheduled work such as rekeying or a lock change, someone with authority over the property needs to let us in and approve the work, but it does not have to be you personally. Landlords often arrange access with a tenant.
What if the lock gives trouble after you have left?
Call us and describe what has changed, including whether the key turns, the latch catches or the door needs lifting. Photos of the lock and door edge can help explain the problem.
Doors can move with changes in weather, so a new sticking problem may need the door alignment checked as well as the lock.
