What matters more is what goes on in its place: an outdoor hasp and a weather-rated padlock, so the same thing does not happen again next winter.

Give us the house number and a landmark, and say which side of the road you are on and what the mailbox or gate looks like. Addresses out here are spread thin and satnav is not always right about them. If you are on a shared or unmarked drive, tell us that too so we do not lose ten minutes at the wrong gate.
Is it worth putting every building on one key?
For most people, yes. Keying the house, garage and outbuildings alike means one key on the ring instead of five, and it is done by rekeying the cylinders rather than buying new locks, so it is not an expensive change. The exception is a building you want to keep separate, like a workshop somebody else has access to – that one stays on its own key.
