What City Jobs Usually Involve

City work is overwhelmingly older buildings with shared entrances. The archetypal example is the 100 year old brick two family house which will frequently still have its original mortise lock. A mortise case is a very different proposition to the cylindrical deadbolts which are the norm all over the county. The parts aren’t interchangeable and a straight swap is rarely the right thing to do. You’ve got a shared street door, a stair door and a unit door and that’s usually one lock becoming three.
