Locksmith Service for Ferguson Homes, Rentals and Storefronts

Locks R Us Locksmith provide mobile locksmith service throughout Ferguson, from the residential streets around January-Wabash Park right through to the businesses along South Florissant Road and the West Florissant corridor. We deal with all aspects of locks for both the private sector (homeowners, tenants and landlords) and the business sector; lockouts, rekeying, lock repair, lock replacement and new lock installation. If you’re locked out right now then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our urgent lockout response.

As our service is mobile we come to the property rather than having you come to a store. Just call (636) 628-7803 with the address (a home or business) and what the lock or door is doing. We’re open daily from 8am to 10pm.

An Old Suburb With Old Doors

Ferguson is one of the older suburbs of North County having grown up around a railhead and as such has an equally old housing stock. A significant proportion of the houses are pre-post war building boom and you’re quite likely to come across a door that’s been rehung, repainted and re-drilled. You’ll often find a door with three or four different locks, the current one having been fitted into a hole which was originally cut for something else.

That’s absolutely vital when you’re choosing the hardware. A modern lockset will have a standard bore and backset and may well not fit at all on a door that’s been altered many times over without some work being done to it. We check before we recommend rather than just fit something and hope. We do mobile service in the 63135 and 63136 areas.

What We Do in Ferguson

Emergency Locksmith Services

Home Lockouts and Entry Assistance

Locked out of a house or apartment in Ferguson? Give us the address and let us know if anyone is in. We’ll explain our approach prior to starting and our aim is to get in without replacing any of the working hardware. More on our emergency lockout service.

Residential Locksmith Services

Rekeying After a Tenant Change

Ferguson have a lot of rental properties and turnover is by far the most common reason we get a call. If the locks are compatible and they sound right then a rekey will simply stop every old key working without the need to replace a single lock body. That’s a far quicker and cheaper solution than new hardware and it’s all sorted in one visit. More on rekeying.

Replacing Tired Front-Door Hardware

If the front door lock is well past its sell by date then a turnover visit is the perfect time to replace it (the property is empty and we’re already there). We’ll check the door, the existing bore and the backset prior to fitting anything. More on residential lock changes.

Lock Repair and Door Alignment

A loose lock, a latch that won’t quite catch or a bolt that just won’t quite close properly are all problems you want to get right before the door eventually stops locking altogether. On the older Ferguson doors the problem is frequently one of alignment rather than the lock per se. We look at both. More on lock fitting and repair.

Commercial Locksmith Services

Storefront and Managed Property Work

For shops on South Florissant and for buildings with residents, staff and contractors all needing different levels of access the issue is invariably one of key control rather than a single lock. Just let us know which doors are in play and who needs to get to what. More on our commercial locksmith service.

  • The old railroad depot (that’s why the town exists, and why the old streets still run that way).

What Ferguson Jobs Usually Involve

Most of our Ferguson work is turnover work really. A tenant moves out, the keys that come back may or may not be all of them and the property has to be secured prior to the next tenant moving in. That’s a rekey and it’s a fairly straightforward job. A useful extra step is to walk the property whilst we’re there and sort out the frankly rather tired front door lock or the back door that just won’t shut properly at all, rather than book a second visit down the track.

Ferguson is right up against a number of our regular stops. We go up to Florissant, work the Hazelwood industrial parks a couple of minutes away and then down through to the Clayton offices and the Ladue homes in Central County. Every one of those areas is on our areas index.

We’re mobile and based in Ballwin so we don’t have a Ferguson that we can go to—we go to the property. Our techs are all fully licensed and insured. All we do is unlock vehicles. No key cutting, no fob/remote programming, no ignition work at all. We’re open every day from 8am to 10pm.

Ferguson Locksmith Questions

A tenant handed back two keys. Only two?

You have absolutely no idea, which is why rekeying is such a thing. It simply changes which key the lock will accept so all the old keys are now useless (one or ten of them). On a compatible lock it’s a fraction of the cost of replacing the whole hardware and only takes one visit.

My front door has been drilled for a different lock at one time or another. Can you still fit a new one?

Normally it would, but we need to check that first. The older Ferguson doors will have marks from several previous locks and the modern lockset is going to expect a standard bore and backset. Send us a photo of the door edge and face and we’ll let you know what will actually fit, not just what will fit on.

Can you do a rekey and a lock replacement in the same visit?

Yes and on an empty property between tenancies that’s the way to do it. Give us the full list when you call so we can bring the appropriate kit.

Do you work with shops on South Florissant?

We do commercial rekeying, lock repair, hardware replacement, installation and key control for shops, offices, estates and managed buildings. Just let us know your trading hours and which entrance you’re looking at.

Can you unlock a car in Ferguson?

We only do vehicle unlocking. We don’t cut or replace car keys, program transponders/fobs/remo, or work on ignitions.
